Thanks to all who have supported us over the last year and we look forward to meeting anyone who would like to get involved, give a small amount of their time each month and support the school going forward. A special welcome to any new parents from this year’s new intake. We need new parents to join us and keep the association going and help raise as much as we can for the school for the coming year. Come along and see what you can offer, we’re always open to new fund-raising ideas and you don’t need to commit to every month.
So far this year we have seen the continued success of our cake sale Fridays, allowing some years to purchase small equipment for the classrooms and others to finance topic themed fun days or to provide transport for the year group to attend educational visits.
Most recent news!
We’ve very busy over the last few months, our second Bingo night at the end of April was another great success where we raised over £200! Looks like the next one will be early in the new term after the Summer holidays as a welcome to all the new parents. Keep an eye out on the PTA Facebook page, school app and noticeboard for the date. Movie night in May was as always a huge success and we raised over £300 profit. Next one will be early in the new term and given all the popcorn left over from the Summer Fair we will be doing a carton of popcorn instead of the usual hotdog for a change. The Summer Fair took place on the 9th June and was our best one yet. The sunny weather helped, as did the school samba procession before the start and then the teachers and staff Zumba class at the end. We ran a raffle for this event for the first time and cleared £200 profit, which pushed the total amount raised to £1,150!! Thanks to everyone who helped set up, and all of the parents, grandparents and families who came along and made it such a success.
We are entering the Leighton Buzzard Carnival again this year to defend our title from last year, we’ve now won it twice and come second in the last four years, so no pressure! Planning is all going well and the school and TA’s are working hard to make the float look as amazing as usual.
In May, we applied for a local council grant for £500 for the school Eco Garden which has been the main fundraising project for this year. I pleased to say that we got the full funding and the school are already busy spending the money to make this a great area for all the children. We will be taking some photos once all the planting has been completed.
All YR4 leavers will be getting a hoodie before the end of the Summer term with all their class names on once again fully funded by the PTA.
We are also looking at arranging an end of term disco for all years and we will be funding the coach transport for the swimming lessons for the whole school for all of next year too.
We will be organising our annual Bags2school collection for the middle of Oct where last year we collected our highest number of bags ever and raised £92! 40 bags of clothing and unwanted items to beat! And we’ve already paid the deposit for the Xmas Panto in Jan 2019
