By profession I am a chartered management accountant but retired in 2004 after a long career working for BP both here in the UK and abroad.
I have been a governor for other schools here in Leighton Buzzard since 2007 and was invited to join the Governing Body at Beaudesert in 2013 – being elected to the role of Chair of Governors from January 2014.I sit on the Local Authority Schools’ Forum representing Lower Schools’ interest in its deliberations.
I hope that the wide experience accumulated during my professional career and involvement as a governor in other schools will prove invaluable to Beaudesert, its governing body, its pupils and their families.

I was appointed as an Authority Governor in June 2012 following my early retirement from a senior engineering role in Network Rail. I bring financial management skills, having handled multi-million pound budgets, as well as experience of performance improvement through target setting and careful monitoring of results. I am keen to use this experience to help Beaudesert Lower School and its pupils achieve their full potential. I have had previous experience as a Parent Governor at Linslade Middle. I chair the finance and general purposes sub-committee, as well as taking on the Health & Safety Governor role.

|Mrs Sue Hulley – Parent Governor

My background is primarily in the field of sales and account management giving me a natural confidence and ability to deal face to face with colleagues and customers in both positive and more challenging situations. I am involved and currently play an active role within a number of charity committees, these include Scouting, NCT and also running my own venture. My extensive experience within these varied areas has left me confident to challenge issues raised and contribute my own experience to the discussion with regard to progress and moving ideas forward. I am committed to the continual improvement and growth of Beaudesert and feel passionately about its development and realisation of potential in the coming years.
| Mrs Hannah Tearle – Parent Governor
Hannah is a children’s nurse who has 16 years experience of working with 0-19’s in various settings within the NHS and charitable sector. Currently Hannah is the Senior Sister of the Children’s Inpatient Unit at Keech Hospice Care. Hannah has experience of safeguarding and she has a keen interest in the physical, mental and emotional well being of children. Hannah has a son who is currently in early years and is committed to the continued growth and development of Beaudesert to benefit the children within the lower school.
|Mrs Tracey Brunton – Co-opted Governor
Term of office: 3 June 2013 – 2 June 2017
I have been supporting the school as a parent volunteer in various classes since 2003 when my children started at Beaudesert. Throughout that time my belief has been that school should be a positive and enriching experience for all the children to encourage their self-esteem and knowledge. I am currently a Teaching Assistant and Midday Supervisor at the school and was appointed Support Staff Governor in 2013. The role on the Governing Body will enable me to strengthen the links between the support staff and the Governors to continue the development of the school.
|Mr Joe Baker – Co-opted Governor
Term of office: 8 February 2016 – 7 February 2020
Joe is a senior communications professional with over 14 years experience gained from working in a number of sectors, most recently working as Deputy Clerk to HM Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London. He is an effective corporate strategist and a skilled communicator. He understands the importance of relationships and the critical role of communications in connecting organisations internally and with their stakeholders to meet business objectives. He is particularly keen to see clear forward-thinking in the Governing Body and that the school markets itself effectively.
|Mrs Samantha Maxwell – Co-opted Governor
Term of office: October 2016 – October 2020
Committees/Responsibilities: Finance Committee, Health and Safety Governor
Samantha has been an Environmental Health Officer for over 16 years and previously worked in the London Borough of Brent for eight years enforcing food and health and safety legislation in premises such as restaurants, hotels, schools, nurseries and food manufacturers. She currently work as an Independent Environment Health Consultant and Strategic Adviser for private clients such as food manufacturers, nurseries, spas and restaurants to ensure they are legally compliant.
She has worked with nurseries for over nine years carrying out audits, developing manuals, policies and procedures, training staff and chairing health and safety committee meetings. Samantha is keen to share her knowledge and experience of health and safety in the childcare sector with Beaudesert and is looking forward to supporting the staff, children, parents and governing body.
As a parent of a 23 year old daughter and 14 year old son, Samantha has always had an interest in how a school can impact on children’s lives, development and future which is one of the main reasons she decided to become a governor.

|Miss Georgina Tuffin – Co-opted Governor
Term of office: 29th March 2017 – 28th March 2021
I am currently employed as a Catastrophe Modeller where I am responsible for estimating the financial costs of large-scale disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and terror attacks. Through my current role and degree I have developed strong analytical and financial skills, which I intend to employ in my role as a Governor of Beaudesert to ensure the school is delivering the best possible results.
I am extremely passionate about ensuring that every child has the ability and resources to achieve their full potential throughout their education and understand the needs for a school to be flexible in delivering a tailored education for every child.I believe that a school is more than how it teaches in the classroom; it is also how inspires a child to achieve their full potential in all aspects of their lives. I enjoy being an active member of the community and currently volunteer at Leighton Buzzard Otters Swimming Club. I am keen to help further integrate Beaudesert into the local community to open up more opportunities for the school.
